Audition/Tech Info

Who can audition: All Elkins High School students are welcome to audition. No experience required.

General Audition Process (Musical,Holiday Show,SOAPS):

  1. Sign in at the door

  2. Warm-up/stretch

  3. Read sides or perform prepared monologues

  4. Learn short choreography (for musicals)

  5. Sing 16–32 bars of a song (for musicals)

  6. Callback process (if applicable)

How to Prepare:

  1. Read the audition notice and character descriptions

  2. Practice with a friend or in front of a mirror

  3. Dress comfortably to move

  4. Be expressive and make bold choices

Audition Tips:

  1. Be on time

  2. Be respectful and supportive of others

  3. Take direction well

  4. Don’t apologize—just perform

Technical Theatre Opportunities

What Tech Theatre Involves:

  • Lighting

  • Sound

  • Hair/Makeup

  • Props

  • Set Construction

  • Stage Management

  • Run Crew

Who Can Join:Tech is open to all students—no experience required. Training is provided.

  1. Band App (for updates and reminders)

  3. Callboard (outside the theatre room)

  4. Commit to the rehearsal and performance schedule

Important Reminder

  • Rehearsals are mostly after school unless otherwise stated

  • Tech crew must attend tech week and show nights

  • Parent/guardian permission may be required for participation

  • Participation counts toward Thespian points
